Julia Ongchoco

Hey there! I'm a recent graduate from the University of Pennsylvania, where I studied Cognitive Science and Theatre Arts. I'm particularly obsessed with the power of language and the beauty of moving images. Currently, I work in New York at Library Films, a documentary production company led by Chris Smith. In my free time, I continue to explore the intersection of Cognitive Science and Art.

film

I currently work in New York at Library Films, a documentary production company led by Chris Smith, known for work like Tiger King on Netflix and A Hundred Foot Wave on HBO Max. My personal work and interests explore the intersectionality of humans, art, and cognitive science.

writing

I’m interested in the intricacies of words, structure of sentences, what makes a good story, and how stories help us make sense of our experiences. For my research thesis, I was mentored by Anna Papafragou and Tyler Knowlton at the University of Pennsylvania as part of its Language and Cognition Lab.

sheets

Tinkering with Google Sheets and developing web apps that interface with Sheets as a database has turned into a hobby of mine. I enjoy creating custom solutions for productivity and workflows, from managing archival material and footage logs to building task management and expense tracker systems. Each project is an opportunity to enhance efficiency and structure production using data.
